About Third Street South: the back story
Third Street South grew up as the town centre of early Naples, a few blocks from the pier. Today it is a compact, elegant few blocks of boutiques, galleries and restaurants with a village feel.
The old town centre
Long before Fifth Avenue South became the main street, the few blocks of Third Street South near the pier were where early Naples shopped and gathered. The scale is still small: low buildings, courtyards and palms, a few minutes’ walk from the beach.
Today
Third Street South is the most polished corner of Old Naples, with fashion and home boutiques, jewellers, galleries and a handful of favourite restaurants such as Campiello and Ridgway Bar & Grill. Cambier Park, with its band shell and tennis courts, is just to the east.
Smaller and quieter than Fifth Avenue, and all the more charming for it.
When to go
Mornings are lovely for coffee and shopping before the beach, and the street is busiest in the winter season. A Saturday-morning farmers market is held in season; check the Third Street South website for dates and hours.

Our advice: combine Third Street South with the pier: breakfast on Third, a beach morning, lunch in a courtyard and an early-evening stroll to the pier for sunset.
