About Bayshore, Naples Bay and the Design District: the back story

East of Old Naples, the city turns to the water of Naples Bay and the Gordon River: Tin City, the Design District, the Bayshore arts corridor and the Naples Botanical Garden.

Naples Bay

Naples Bay is the city’s working waterfront: marinas, fishing and tour boats, and Tin City, the old clam-and-oyster packing sheds turned shops and restaurants. Boat tours, sunset cruises and fishing charters leave from here.

The Design District

Between downtown and the Gordon River, the Naples Design District gathers interior-design showrooms, galleries and restaurants. Baker Park and the Gordon River Greenway bring boardwalks and riverside paths right into the middle of town.

This is where Naples is at its most relaxed and creative.

Bayshore

Across the bay in East Naples, Bayshore Drive has become an arts and dining corridor, with Celebration Park’s food trucks and waterfront bar, and the Naples Botanical Garden at its southern end.

Our advice: start at the Botanical Garden when it opens, lunch at Celebration Park, then cross to Tin City for a late-afternoon boat trip on the bay.
